HP Recommended

Hello, I recently acquired an HP Elite x360 1040 G10 which came with an Active Stylus (SPS 846410-001 HP PN 839082-003)

In Device manager under HID, there is a HID Compliant Pen, and there is a pen icon in the task tray. 

However, though the pen does occasionally work showing its cursor, it repeatedly disappears and takes a lot of faff to bring it back.

Is this pen compatible with the laptop? If not, what would you recommend for my laptop.

I was expecting something to instantly work, all the time as soon as it came near or on the screen - not scratching my head to get it to work after it was working. I've read similar questions on other sites indicating a similar problem of  usability for only a few seconds.
