HI @Lilemo

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are locked out of your HP ProBook 450 G6 by a Power-on Authentication (POA) screen asking for a password or fingerprint.

This is an extremely strict security feature specific to HP's business notebooks. It means a pre-boot security password has been set in the BIOS or through a corporate security tool like HP Sure Start or HP Client Security Manager.

Unfortunately, there is no public workaround, key combination, or simple internal reset that will bypass this level of security on a ProBook G6.

Why Simple Reset Methods Do Not Work

  • Keyboard Shortcuts (Esc, F10, F9, F12😞 These keys are blocked until the POA is passed.

  • CMOS Battery Removal: The password is stored in a specialized, non-volatile memory chip on the motherboard, not in the simple CMOS chip. Removing the battery will not clear this password.

  • Universal Password: There is no master password that will work for this commercial-grade security feature.

Hope this helps answer your question.
