HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer

My concern is that the cartridges originally supplied with my printer are now unusable simply because I did not continue the Instant Ink subscription. I purchased the printer with those cartridges and expected to be able to use them independently of an optional subscription. I was never clearly informed that enrolling in the trial would make those original cartridges dependent on continuing the subscription.

I have also not used the additional subscription cartridges and have offered to return them. I am not asking to continue the subscription, I simply want to use the cartridges that came with my printer.

If HP’s position is that the original cartridges are permanently tied to Instant Ink after enrollment, I would like this matter reviewed by a supervisor, including whether this limitation was clearly disclosed when I purchased/enrolled.

I was told at 11:03 AM that I was being transferred to a supervisor. I stayed connected for nearly 40 minutes and repeatedly followed up, but no supervisor ever joined before the chat was ended.

Please escalate this to a supervisor and provide a proper resolution to my concern.

-- Setup Cartridges -- FYI Only --

If there is a glimmer of good news, it might be that the original Setup cartridges that come with a new printer are smaller than regular cartridges.  They are meant to be used to initialize the printer's ink system and support printing until the owner (you) purchase or obtain replacement cartridges.

What is Instant Ink?

HP Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription service for which you are charged a monthly fee for a set number of printed pages.  (Each side of the paper is counted as a separate Page.)

While there is no additional charge for the ink, the subscription is not free and does charge each month.

IMPORTANT -- Ink is supplied only with an active subscription -

After the service is terminated by you or HP, all subscription ink cartridges stop working and must (should) be returned to HP.

Selecting the right number of pages for your plan is important.

--------------------------------------------

What is "Free Ink"?

There is no extra cost for ink.

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

Important

  • All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

and

  • After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

and

  • Subscription / Instant Ink cartridges remain the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

Hi Thank you for usefull detailed information. Are you belong to HP ?

Whatever they offered with the name of free trial is totally misleading.  There is nothing free.
