ProBook 455 G3
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My ProBook 455 G3 shuts down while I am working then restarts.  No error message, this occurs almost daily, sometimes twice in one day.  Machine is plugged in. This machine is used for my business and is very annoying. Also, I have reciept dated May 2, 2017 (from Amazon) but HP says my warrenty expired Jan 2018.  Please help!  Thanks in advance

Try option 1: disable fast startup https://www.eightforums.com/threads/fast-startup-turn-on-or-off-in-windows-8.6320/

If you've original invoice receipt, then claiming warranty is not an issue. Just contact HP technical support directly with the invoice ready. May be HP servers are not updated with purchase date of your system.

I followed your instructions to turn off fast start, I hope it works (Instructions are for WIN8 but I assume that doesn't matter).  HP Support webpage says this machine is "no longer supported by HP".  So they are basically not help.  Thank you very much for your quick response, I will know in a day or 2 if it works and I will report back one way the the other.

You're very welcome.

Yes, that tutorial will be applicable in your machine.

HP like all other manufacturers give 1 year warranty from date of purchase. You just need to contact them with the invoice.

HP won't give me the option of contacting them.  It asks for the serial number so they can give me 'support options'.  When I put in the SN it says "HP doesn't support this product anymore" and suggests the Forum.  I am a retired HP employee and I am really disappointed by this

You can call them up and ask them to correct the warranty date in their servers first. They would ask you to send them invoice copy.

Then request for technical support for the issue of it is recurring.

That is the URL I have tried, it doesn't have any phone numbers listed. It asks for your product SN or model # and then says there is no support for that product. I can't find an actual phone number anywhere to talk to a human being...

Just for information there are Dell laptop users that have the same problem for months, now. I look at the thread sometimes just for any information I may need in the future.

I followed the directons to disable fast start and that seems to be working. I also found a phone # for HP, they said my laptop is still under warranty for hardware, but not software and this is a software issue. I could pay a $35 activation fee then $14.99 for support.  I declined, disabling fast start seems to be working. Thanks!!!
