Hi, I have a HP Elitebook 850 G5 which I want to connect via a HDMI port (1.4) and and a High speed HDMI cable with a Samsung LU28R554QRXZG external monitor. Unfortunately I have only 30HZ and can not use 60HZ or higher. The quality of the view is not as good as it should be (3840x2160). Is the problem because I have a HDMI 1.4 port? If yes. Could I use the Thunderbold USB-3 port and connect with a HDMI cable the monitor to get 60HZ? Thanks for your help.

hello,
your hp elitebook 850 g5 supports HDMI 1.4b
See HP Technical data:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05903028#AbT7
See HDMI Specification:
https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi1_4b
Solution: You will need to use a HDMI 1.4b (or higher) cable
Good luck
