HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (cx0143tx)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi HP Team,

I have recently bought HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (cx0143tx) laptop, & would like to know how many RAM slots it has. Now only 8 GB RAM is present so my question is if there is another RAM slot then I can upgrade the RAM or is it only 1 RAM slot.

Also tell me what is the max limit for RAM upgradability in this laptop. Reply soon. Or else I will have to plan to return this laptop.

Hi,

Your PC supports max 16GB of DDR4 2666Mhz RAM (2x8GB)

There are two slots and at the moment you have one stick of 8GB in one slot and one empty slot. You can buy from your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung..

This is what the PC has been tested with, however HP DDR4 systems will run with 32GB of RAM (2x16GB) so that would be the actual max.

On page 43 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade RAM:

You could also consider upgrading to an SSD which would increase everyday performance of the PC.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks for the prompt & detailed reply sir.  But you mention : "Your PC supports max 16GB of DDR4 2666Mhz RAM (2x8GB)" & then again said "This is what the PC has been tested with, however HP DDR4 systems will run with 32GB of RAM (2x16GB) so that would be the actual max."

So I'm a little confused , is the max RAM capability 16 GB DDR4 or 32 GB DDR4. Can you kindly shed some more light on this. Really appreciate your help Sir.

Thanks

Your welcome. Max RAM at 16GB is what is written in the service manual and what some models in that series can be bought with.

However many users, even myself have put 32GB in HP DDR4 systems and they run fine. Crucial, manufacturer of RAM also states that the max RAM is 32GB for the series your model is part of.

So, 16GB is what HP says and 32GB is the actual maximum.

Hope that helps,

David
