As a home user, how can I update my 5 HP machines (2 z4g4 workstations, 2 SFF desktop and an elite book) without this option? How can we roll back bios versions from uefi? For example the z4g4 3.0.0  bios absolute breaks the system, nothing works in that version, not even the start menu, and I need to rollback, this was easy from the boot menu, now is a pain in the ass. This is not progress. 😞

Hi @THRL

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your concern regarding the removal of the Network BIOS Update option and the difficulty of rolling back BIOS versions, especially when managing multiple HP systems at home. I'd be glad to help gather some details and work through this with you.

To better understand the situation, could you confirm the below details ?

  • What BIOS version was installed before updating to version 3.0.0 on the Z4 G4?
  • Did the BIOS update complete successfully without any error messages?
  • Are all five systems experiencing the same issue, or is the problem isolated to the Z4 G4 workstations?
  • When running BIOS 3.0.0, do you notice any error messages in Event Viewer, Device Manager, or during startup?
  • Have you made any recent hardware changes around the same time as the BIOS update?

In the meantime, you may try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Verify BIOS Settings
    • Enter the BIOS setup by pressing F10 during startup.
    • Load Setup Defaults.
    • Save changes and restart the system.
    • Check whether Windows functionality improves after restoring default BIOS settings.
  2. Perform a BIOS Recovery-  Click here for steps
    • Turn off the workstation.
    • Press and hold Windows Key + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
    • Release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B until the BIOS Recovery screen appears.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions if recovery options are available.
  3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics - click here for steps
    • try performing a complete hardware diagnostic test to rule out any underlying hardware issues that may have surfaced after the BIOS update.

Also kindly note HP generally does not recommend rolling back (downgrading) the BIOS unless it is strictly necessary to resolve a major system issue. since newer BIOS versions include crucial security patches and vulnerability fixes. Reverting to an older version can reintroduce these security risks and system Instability issues.

      I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
