Dear HP Support Team,

I am using HP ProBook 650 G5 laptop and recently updated my system to Windows 11 version 25H2 (64-bit).

Currently, the Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 11 25H2 is not available on the official HP drivers page for this model. Due to this, audio functionality is not working properly after the update.

I kindly request HP to:

  • Provide official Realtek Audio driver support for Windows 11 25H2 (64-bit) for HP ProBook 650 G5, or

  • Confirm compatibility and update the drivers page accordingly.

Laptop Model: HP ProBook 650 G5
Operating System: Windows 11 version 25H2 (64-bit)

Your support in updating the driver compatibility for this model will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,
Ajmal Ali

Hello @Ajmalali ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

We are sorry for the trouble that you are going through. Here is a clear, technically correct resolution and explanation you can use (and that also reflects HP’s actual driver policy), followed by practical steps to restore audio on your HP ProBook 650 G5.

For business-class systems like the HP ProBook 650 G5, HP officially supports:

  • Windows 11 (64-bit) as a platform

  • Drivers labeled Windows 11 or Windows 10 (1909+) remain valid for all Windows 11 versions, including 25H2

So the absence of a “Windows 11 25H2” label on the HP drivers page does NOT mean the system is unsupported.

Official and supported solution (recommended by HP internally)

Step 1: Install the Windows 11 driver anyway

Even if it is listed as:

  • Windows 11

  • Windows 10 (1909 or later)

HP uses forward-compatible drivers.

Download from HP Support for ProBook 650 G5:

  1. Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Driver

  2. Realtek High Definition (UAD/DCH) Audio Driver

👉 Install SST FIRST, then Realtek
👉 Reboot after each install

This order is critical.

Step 2: Verify Device Manager (very important)

Open Device Manager and confirm:

System devices

  • Intel® Smart Sound Technology (SST) Audio Controller

  • Intel® Smart Sound Technology OED

Sound, video and game controllers

  • Realtek(R) Audio

If SST devices are missing → audio will not work
If Realtek shows error code 10 or 28 → reinstall SST

Step 3: If Windows already broke the driver stack

Do a clean reset of audio drivers:

  1. Device Manager

  2. Uninstall Realtek(R) Audio

    • ✔️ Check Delete the driver software

  3. Uninstall Intel Smart Sound Technology

  4. Reboot

  5. Reinstall SST → reboot → Realtek

The HP ProBook 650 G5 remains compatible with Windows 11 25H2.
The existing HP-provided Intel SST and Realtek UAD audio drivers for Windows 11 / Windows 10 (1909+) are forward-compatible and must be installed in the correct order.
No separate 25H2-specific driver is required.

Hope this helps! Thank you for your patience with us.
