HP nc6400
Microsoft Windows Vista

Dear Friends,

I'm nearly certain the LCD is gone bad...

The screen lites and there are a bunch of colored hairlines (about an inch and half wide total) running from top to bottom on the left side of the screen only. The rest of the screen is a lite gray color.

What do you feeling is going on and where can I obtain a good healthy screen or possibly a parts machine with a known "good" screen?

I have looked a little on eBay, but nothing thrilling. The screens alone are more than  some of the entire computers.

Any thoughts, suggestions, options will be very welcomed....

It has been great little computer overall, but i need to be careful and use my $$$ wisely.

God Bless...

Sincerely, Raphael

Hi,

This is an old machine, could be 10 years old now. Normally HP Stores won't stock parts for machines more than 5 years old. If you could not find on eBay, the chance is very slim to none. Your machine uses  one of the following parts:

14.1-inch, WXGA+ 418907-001
14.1-inch, WXGA  418896-001

Please try:

or

PRIORITY:HIGH
Dear banhien

I'm sorry that I didn't get back sooner...but I never got notification by email which I was supposed to do.

Could you tell me if the same screen was used in the nc6400, nc6220, nc6230? are they compatible. HP could not tell me anything beyond 2010.

The computer came over on the Matflower I know, but it's been a backup for other technical issues w/ other computers.

They still seem to fetch a good price though.

What would you do as I just don't have money burning a hole in my pocket..Is the nc6400 worth putting much more time/money into?

Finally with todays demands on computers you obviously need more RAM, multiple core processors, beefier everything, etc..My desktop has an AMD single core and it's not able to do what it once was due to bloat..and all these demands.

Thank You ! Look forward to your expertise and common sense advice.

Sincerely, Raphael

Had to repost due to lack of interest or response in order to obtain a new LCD for this HP nc6400 Notebook.

Thank you for your precious time and efforts...
Kind regards, Ralph

Search for the maintenance and service guide for the models you mentioned and look for the screen part numbers. Or just sell the one you got and get something a bit newer. The nc6400 is a reliable machine, but considering how old it is IMO it's not worth putting money into, beyond changing something like the fan.
