Hi all,
Just want to share my experience with the same problem:
I also own two new Elitebook 840 G6, exactly the same problem with Sure View, as mentioned in above posts.
Yesterday the complete panel was replaced on-site by a HP technician, after the case has been at 2. level support for some time.
Unfortunately the problem still exists, completely unchanged.
I think the panels/filters has been sourced from different supplier, than used for the Elitebook 840 G5.
I own five of thees older G5's, Sure Veiw works perfect on these..
-Very interested in what HP decides to do about it..
Kind regards, Brian

I recommend you contact support and they will assist you in this regard.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
Cheers!

I also got a brand new HP elitebook 840 G6. The screen is horrible. Even my old probook and thinkpad have better screens. Contacted HP about the issue and made a short movie about the viewing angles. They agreed the screen wasn't good enough. Tried a couple of things (settings, drivers etc.). but nothing worked. Send the laptop away for repair and just received my repaired laptop. according to the paper, the screen was replaced but I Notice no difference. The screen is so bad it ruins the entire laptop.
Asked HP if they could contact me, but so far no response... Really dissapointed. Please provide a proper solution
Ps. I'm typing in the lowest brightness with moderate lights around me and screen is hurting my eyes. Only if I put it in sureview it's acceptable. Viewing angles are the same.

Crazy how so many people are having this same problem and HP isn't doing anything about it.
I'm pretty sure it actually occurs on ALL 6th generation Elitebooks (I have seen similar posts on this forum with Elitebook 735 G6/ 745 G6/ 840 G6/ 830 G6 and x360 1040 G6). So far, I haven't seen anyone claiming a properly working screen on these newer models (if someone does, let us know!). Called HP yesterday and apparently all G6 models are equipped with the new 3rd gen privacy screen, which would explain these problems. The 5th generation Elitebooks had an older version of the privacy screen.
I also sent them a video showing the problem and they opened a case. I'll keep you updated.

Got feedback from HP: The screen is working properly. It is just a new screen which is more energy efficient. Nothing they can do for me.
I can't believe this is their final respons. Laptop is barely usable..
Bye bye HP and hello thinkpads

Hi all,
As a follow up on a longer HP story, my two 840 G6's has now (by HP) been categorized as DOA.
I will now order identical PC's without SureView, as this feature does not seem to work on any G6's..
My company has a contract with HP, maybe special service due to this 🙂
-Good luck to all of You with this issue..
Cheers.

I have the HP ENVY x360 - 15t-dr100, WITHOUT sureview, and I still have this same problem, so it's not sureview, it's the screen. This is now my main PC, I cannot be without it for a few days or a week and not have it resolved.

I means, Generation 6 has a new display panel whitch should be better than the old one, more contrast, less power usage, better for the eyes... 😉
