Hi there,
When I run the Secure Erase tool through the BIOS to permanently remove data, what happens exactly in the background?
I have a HP Elite x360 1040 G10 (1-TB-PCIe-Gen-4.0-x4-NVMe-M.2-TLC-SSD).
Thanks!
Danny

Hi @Dka345
Cuándo usar Secure Erase o HP Disk Sanitizer
Use these tools in the following situations.
Before you begin, create a backup of your local data. Information that is deleted cannot be recovered.
HP UEFI PC Hardware Diagnostics does not find any error on the hard drive after displaying an error during installation of the operating system.
You want to erase or permanently delete all data from your hard drive or solid-state drive.

Thank you for your response.
I appreciate the information on when to use Secure Erase, but I'm specifically interested in understanding what happens technically in the background during the process. Could you provide more details on the actual steps and actions taken by the tool to erase the data?
Thanks!

Basically it is a low-level format, leaving the disk without data impossible to recover with third-party programs. I have to add that this is how it works

It is impossible to know from our side that it is copyrighted by HP. These devices have a special chip that is like a second BIOS and only HP devices have this chip.
