HP Laptop - 17-by3053cl

My HP laptop (3 years old)  has started running quite slow and is draining the battery.  I had the battery replaced less than a month ago and it still drains completely within 45 minutes.  I have run all of the HP Support diagnostic tests, I have Trend Micro Antivirus installed and running and finds no virus, etc.  I was running Malware and the IT guy who replaced the battery told me to switch to Trend.  That being said, it doesn't matter what program I'm using (QuickBooks, Outlook, Chrome, Edge are my standard programs) it may run fine for a bit, then becomes extremely slow and nearly unusable.  Regardless if it's running ok or slow, the battery still drains (it dropped 8% while typing this paragraph).  I'm at a loss as none of the diagnostic tests show any failures, no viruses, I've uninstalled any unused programs, I've cleaned up all of the files that are not needed.  Any ideas?
