HP ZBook Studio G7 Mobile Workstation (8YP49AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone,

I recently experienced recurring Blue Screen crashes (BSOD) with the error code UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION on my HP ZBook Studio G7, caused by corrupted/incompatible drivers from using a third-party driver updater (Driver Booster).

I have performed a systematic driver remediation and cleanup to stabilize the system, and I would like to confirm if any further diagnostic steps are recommended.

System Details:

- Model: HP ZBook Studio G7 Mobile Workstation

- OS: Windows 11 Pro

- Storage: KIOXIA NVMe SSD

- BIOS Version: 01.25.00 (Verified up to date)

Steps Taken So Far:

1. Driver Cleanup & Replacement: Downloaded and cleanly installed the official HP Storage driver package (SoftPaq sp156922) to restore factory storage/NVMe controller drivers.

2. Chipset & Management Engine: Installed the latest official HP Chipset and Intel Management Engine drivers.

3. System Reboot: Performed a full restart to finalize integration.

Current Status:

The system is now fully stable, noticeably more responsive, and no further BSODs have occurred.

Question:

Are there any recommended post-fix verification steps (e.g., specific SSD diagnostic tests or system integrity checks) to ensure 100% long-term stability after recovering from corrupted storage drivers?

Thank you for your help and feedback!

Hi @marawanalkhasha

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out! and It's great to hear that your ZBook Studio G7 is now stable after removing the third-party driver modifications and reinstalling the official HP drivers.

Since the system is currently operating normally with no further UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION errors, the steps you have already taken were appropriate and likely resolved the root cause. To help verify long-term stability, you may consider the following additional checks:

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics - Click here for reference steps .

  • Perform the Storage Test and System Extensive Test to verify SSD health and overall hardware functionality.
  • Review the SSD SMART status using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Confirm there are no warnings, bad sectors, or storage-related errors reported.

Run System File Integrity Checks

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run

    sfc /scannow

Use HP Drivers Only

  • We recommend obtaining drivers directly from HP Support or Windows Update and avoiding third-party driver update utilities, as they can occasionally install incompatible drivers.

I hope this helps.
