Elitebook835G8, HP USB-C Dock G5

Hi guys. Sorry for my English but I'v got a strange issue.

I have Elitebook 835G8(AMD Ryzen7 5800U) laptop for work, and a HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock station in my office.

Dock station connect two monitor, one keyboard and one mouse. When I go back,  i just need connect one usb-c cable between laptop and dock, two extended monitor and keyboard, mouse will work. When I need to go out, I just disconnect one usb-c cable. Laptop can also charge from dock, and dock comes with a 120Watt Power Adapter.

When I use Windows10Pro, these things works perfect! Until last week: my laptop upgrade to Windows11pro.

First: I fully reinstall the Windows11pro OS. All driver software is installed. No abnormal device found in windows device manager.

and here is issue:

1, At first, last week, I go out for work with laptop. When I comeback to office, I just connect the laptop and dock, and press the power button on dock as usual.(G5 dock comes with a power button. it's good!)

2, Two mins later, I found my desktop monitor is still sleep (It will start with windows, in the past times ). also keyboard and mouse is not working.

3, I guess i've got a poor contact. so I unplug the usb-c cable, and plug in again. It works. Monitor got singal, and keyboard, mouse back to work.

4, But I'v got many "poor contact" in the following days. Every time when I go out with laptop, and back to office, this usb-c cable will "bad contact", once. I just need to unplug the usb-c and plug it in.

5, I realized that this is not contact issue. So I made some test:

*Connected the laptop and dock. replug the cable once, made it works, power off laptop, and power on from the button on dock. It works fine.

*Turn of  the laptop, Remove usb-c cable from laptop, and plug in (the same usb-c on laptop) in 5 seconds, power on laptop, issue 2 happened. Extend monitor, keyboard and mouse is not working. Only OS is start normally.(OS start with a sound) Its worth noting that I hear a sound means "USB Device eject" after windows11 start music.

*I found that YOU JUST need to pull the usb-c cable out when the laptop is turn off, evenif you plug the cable back immediately, you can touch off issue2.

*To solve issue2, just plug usb-c cable in again. Everything will back to work.

So.....I must plug cable twice when I back to office? or turn on laptop, wait the os start, and plug cable in?

Attempted operations:

*Adjust Windows power mode(blance,/best performance)

*Disable USB Engrgy saving in windows.

*Adjust Fast boot.

*Disable windows hibernate, sleep.

*Start the Plug and Play Service and set the service auto start.

*Disable "Allow system turn off the device for power saving" option in windows device manager for every USB HUB and CONTROLLER.

*Adjust usb-c dock hi-res mode in UEFI BIOS.

*Update the driver, and firmware to date, For laptop and dock.

*Use HP Image Assistant tool scan and auto install any old driver/soft.

All operation above is not working.

Any Suggestion is welcomed.

Hi everyone. I did another test.

After turning off the laptop, there is no need to unplug the USB-C cable. Just turning off the power of G5 docking station can also trigger this issue.

I also replaced another G5 docking station with fw1.00.05. Issue still exists.

Now it looks like there are two little elves, one in the laptop and the other in the docking station. Even if you turn off the computer, they are still discussing what to eat tomorrow morning. And once you interrupt them (unplug the cable or turn off the dock power), even if you restore the link immediately, they will still make some trouble 4u.
