Hello,
Same issue here. Fan is running loudly and CPU constantly taking ~>16% only for this proces... (Much higher than any other current running tasks).
Power consomption is also market as "very high" in the Task manager.
And PC struggeled to perform other simple tasks.
I stopped the service and things are back to normal. I hope this will not have other consequences.

I recently had a system and BIOS update. Not sure if it started at this point..

Hi there.
I had the same problem on my Probook 450 G8 and I called HP support a few days ago.
The best thing to do now, would be to disable the charge scheduler task from running. Since I have disabled it, my battery lasts about 5 hours, which is a big improvement from what it was.
If you end the task, it will just start up again when you restart your laptop.
All these problems started since the BIOS update and system update

In the meantime (two days ago) there was another HP Bios update, the deactivated ics remains deactivated, respectively the ics no longer appears in the tasks in the computer administration, I can also be wrong. I don't know if this is HP's official solution?

I´ve got the new BIOS, forced upon me, but no difference. The problem still exists, and only safe way to handle it is to turn it off in the Task Manager after every start (don´t turn your computer off....).
I think HP better fix this ASAP. You buy a 4.000 Dollars worth computer that fails after 2 Months. Badwill for HP.
