Hi,

First, I recommend removing the serial number from the public post for privacy.

For the EliteBook 845 G7, the fingerprint device should use the HP/Synaptics fingerprint driver for the exact product number, not a random third-party driver package.

Please try this clean reinstall:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Biometric devices.
  3. Right-click the Synaptics fingerprint device and choose Uninstall device.
  4. If available, check Delete the driver software for this device.
  5. Restart the laptop.
  6. Install the fingerprint driver from HP’s official driver page for the EliteBook 845 G7:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-elitebook-845-g7-notebook-pc/37506818

HP’s Synaptics fingerprint SoftPaq notes that the package enables the Synaptics/Validity fingerprint sensor in supported HP notebook models and includes Windows 11 support:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp142001-142500/sp142187.html

After reinstalling the driver:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  2. Remove the current fingerprint setup, if present.
  3. Restart.
  4. Set up Windows Hello Fingerprint again.

If Code 43 returns immediately after reinstalling the official HP driver, I would also update BIOS and chipset drivers from the same HP driver page.

For HP business systems, HP Image Assistant can also help identify the correct HP driver/firmware baseline:
https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HPIA.html

If the fingerprint sensor still shows Code 43 after BIOS/chipset/fingerprint driver updates, then the problem may not be only the driver. It could be the fingerprint sensor hardware, fingerprint cable/connection, or firmware state.

Please share the hardware ID from Device Manager:
Fingerprint device > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids

That will help confirm whether the installed driver actually matches the Synaptics sensor.
