I'm hoping someone can give advice on this - my touchpad suddenly stopped working and I can't get it up and running again. I've been using a wired external mouse as a get around, but ideally also want to be able to use the touchpad.

It was working fine up until this morning, after I'd logged  onto my lap and used it for a few minutes, and then suddenly stopped. I tried restarting my laptop hoping it was just a glitch but I struggled to sign back in as my keyboard has also non-responsive at times (though thankfully it seems to be back to normal now).  I've tried to update all the below drivers (including searching the HP website for updates), but the system just tells me they're all up to date:

  • Synaptics HID-compliant Touch Pad Device
  • HID-compliant Touch Pad
  • HID-compliant mouse

I'm on Windows 10 22H2 64-bit and I've been informed that my laptop is not eligible for Windows 11 updates,.

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this or if I'll need to keep using a wired mouse for the foreseeable future ?
