Dear HP Community,
Can you please advise if AMD laptops really have Thunderbolt 4 ports?
Usually Thunderbolt ports are presented only in Intel-based laptops but according to quickspecs new model HP EliteBook 865 16 inch G11 has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports. Is that true?
I have my doubts because:
a) it was not common for AMD laptops to have it in the past,
b) I see some conflicting data, for example, for another AMD model - HP EliteBook 835 13 inch G10 :
in quickspecs it shows thunderbolt https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c08487728 while in description on the support page there are only (2) USB4 Type-C 40 Gbps signaling rate https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/ish_8110862-8110967-16
So this makes me think of another mistake, this time for HP EliteBook 865 16 inch G11.
And please advise which ports are in HP EliteBook 835 13 inch G10 in the end 🙂

Hello.
Some - not all - AMD laptops have Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Elitebook 865 G11has TB4 ports, according to the Quickspecs and other resources.
Historically Thunderbolt was not available for AMD computers because it is Intel technology, and Intel only approved Intel platforms. Situation has changed. Read more in Wikipedia.
Elitebook 835 G10 has 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports. The Quickspecs document is in version 19, so it has been revised 18 times since it was released a year ago so an obvious error in Thunderbolt port specs would have been caught by now.
