I need this driver "Thunderbolt(TM) Controller - 7EC2 driver". I haven't found it on the HP driver page or website. Could anyone please tell me which one is the correct driver?

Thanks a lot!

I found the driver on the Microsoft Update Catalog website, zipped it up and attached it below:

You will have to manually install the driver from the device in the device manager since there is no executable file.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.  Click on the Thunderbolt(TM) Controller - 7EC2 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file that shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc7EB2% = TbtBusDrv_YflDevice, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7EB2&CC_0C03
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc7EC2% = TbtBusDrv_YflDevice, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7EC2&CC_0C03
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc7EC3% = TbtBusDrv_YflDevice, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7EC3&CC_0C03

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense, but doesn’t HP have its own exclusive driver?

You're very welcome.

Yes, HP has a driver but I didn't know what model notebook had the driver file at the time, since it wasn't on your notebook's support page.

Sometimes, I find it easier to find the drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog rather than combing through hundreds of different model notebook model series to figure out what driver may contain support for a specific hardware ID.

If you want the HP driver, I found it on the HP EliteBook 840 G7 Notebook PC's support page:

Intel Thunderbolt 3 Driver
