Hi Guys

I need help as my IT department is overseas and they are as much help as a Chocolate teapot to be polite

In my office, we use HP Thunderbolts G2 and G5.

 Since I started over a year ago I have been trying to get the spares working but cannot find power leads as the leads they are trying to use are the wrong V or w

My question

1. should I be looking at Watts or Voltage  when I am looking for spare parts

2. Am I correct in thinking once I get the power leads and the doc work I will only have to use DPU to connect a screen to the screen.

You are my last hope so any help would be amazing

Thank you

Sandee

There is HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 and G4 + USB-C Dock G4 (obsolete) and USB-C Dock G5 (classic one and Essential one).

There is no Thunderbolt dock G5.

The Thunderbolt docks use the "older" style (fatter) connector to the dock, while the USB-C ones have the standard nowadays thinner connector.

If I am not mistaken, the minimum amount of W of power adapter should be 120W. Some docks might need more.

To be more precise, you can visit:

1) HP Part Surfer -> https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/

Enter the serial number of the dock and you will see all parts and sub-components needed including the power adapter or power cord

2) HP Quick Specs

or

You might contact HP Customer Support to obtain these parts which you need.
