HP Recommended

I got an EliteBook 8470p from a friend today. With a known good AC adapter, the unit will not boot. For a while after plugging it up, the battery light on the front cycled between amber and white. Checking it later, it had changed to blinking white only. In both cases, there was no response of any kind to the pressing of the power button. Can anyone help me troubleshoot?

Does the Caps Lock also blink? Count the blinks and check whether it corresponds with this list.
