Hi @GW110 ,

Thank you for choosing HP Community,

When your HP ProBook exhibits a situation where the caps lock key flashes three times but there is no screen or keyboard response, it typically indicates a memory issue. Here’s how you can troubleshoot this problem:

Perform Power drain:

  •   Turn off the laptop completely.
  •   Unplug the power adapter and any peripherals (USBs, headphones, etc.).
  •   Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  •   Wait a few seconds.
  •   Plug in the power adapter (without turning on the laptop yet).
  •   Turn the laptop back on.

If the issue persist run the F2 diagnostic test for hardware failure:

Run Memory Test Using HP Diagnostics (F2)

  1. Shut down your unit completely.
  2. Turn it back on, and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly (once every second) until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. On the menu, select Memory Test.

You’ll usually see:

    • Quick Test (takes a few minutes)
    • Extensive Test
  1. Choose your test and let it run.
  2. When the test completes, it will show you the result:
    • Pass = memory is fine
    • Fail = RAM issue detected (you’ll get a 24 digit failure ID)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
