Does anyone know if I can replace the M.2 Wifi card with one of those M.2 USB connectors?  I tried one, but the system BIOS doesn't recognize it.

Hi:

The only device the M.2 Wi-Fi card slot can be used for is a M.2 Wi-Fi card.

Folks have tried all different kinds of devices in that slot with negative results.

What is your machine ? New M.2 wifi cards won't physically fit to the slot of my Dell E6400 because which uses different format/connector, I can use Dell part but still does not support 5GHz networks.. I have to use

Well,

You can count me as one of the ones that tried it.

My initial try was to get the thing to be recognized by the BIOS, so I wouldn't have trouble loading up my WIN 7 drive.

Unfortunately my HP Elitedesk 800 G2 mini only has USB 3.  I do have ways around it (i.e. script), but wanted to try.

I got the idea because I saw a video showing a 2.5 Gb LAN adapter could be there.

Thanks for the answer.

I know I can use a dongle,

I was trying to get a USB 2.0 solution so I could use and load and old Win 7 without script.

I appreciate your response.  Mine is a HP 800 G2 Mini.

Thanks,

You're very welcome.

There's a relatively easy way to install W7 on your PC:
