Hi,
At the place where I work, we're planning on upgrading our office supplies, which include upgrading screens, docking stations and all other peripherals. We used to be rocking HP 230w thunderbolt docking stations, but we want to switch to 27" screens with built in docking station and 100w power delivery.
I just want to know if a 150w laptop, or even a 200w one will function under normal load with a 100w usb-c cable.
Under heavier load, we are prepared to use an external power supply, but with lighter loads, it would be great if the screen on its own will deliver the power necessary to charge the laptop.
Looking forward to hear from someone,
Eirik H

using a 100w usb-c power delivery adapter (that's the max alllowed by the standard) will power the zbook up to a point, and you will likely see messages about not having enough power to handle the load... you may not have battery charge and some performance may be lost as the cpu + graphics may demand more than what is available, but will not damage the laptop
