I am seeing the same types of issues, first noticeable as the keyboard / mouse freeze when opening Microsoft Teams, when the Elitebooks are attached (USB-C) to HP E34M monitor/docking stations.

The Elitebooks are 850 G8s and 855-G8s.  Often after the keyboard / mouse issue the system will also lose the ability to detect speakers and cameras.  IF I unplug from the docking station/ monitor, the laptop will recognize the onboard speakers / cameras and the keyboard / mouse will start orking again about 75% of the time. The rest of the time requries a hard reboot.

All drivers, bios and Windows updates are complete.

Hi All!

We have had an HP Technician come to site and relay the fix to us. From what he said, the issue is related to the Intel Smart Sound drivers downloaded through a recent Windows Update.

We were able to successfully resolve the issue by going into Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers and uninstalling all of the "Intel Smart Sound Technology" entries (ensuring that drivers are deleted as well). We had 3 of them with varying names on the unit we tested this fix on.

After rebooting the laptop the issue is no longer occurring.

Please let everyone know if this works or doesn't work for you!

@Elise_O

Thanks for the update, will test and let you know.

From our perspective the issue has calmed down, but we have recently pushed out BIOS 1.11 which I also thinks resolves some of the issues.
