Hi! I need help with my setup. I own a HP Probook 440 G9 and for context, I have 2 external monitors that I plan to use. The first monitor's output is HDMI, and the second monitor's output is DP.

I bought a UGREEN Type C to DP Adaptor for my 2nd external monitor. At first I thought, my laptop's model is not compatible for usb c alt-mode. However, upon checking their website, it mentioned that type c is allowed for display port.

Are there any drivers that I should be aware of installing? Is there any possible alternative or back up solution for this, in case the Type C adaptor fail to work? If all else fails, I'm planning to buy a VGA to HDMI (for my second monitor) and a USB to dual HDMI Adaptor instead (for docking).

Thank you so much!

Hello.

Yes, your laptop supports Alt DP Mode. All the drivers needed are the Intel/NVidia drivers.

Have you tried enabling the "Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock" setting in BIOS?

BIOS update for your laptop may also make the UGREEN product more compatible.

Check UGREEN support site for (possible) firmware updates for your product. If you can, try it on another laptop as well.

Any Thunderbolt / USB-C dock should work with your laptop, from any manufacturer. Dock power buttons, WakeOnLan and MAC address passthru options are manufacturer specific. The latter two are of no importance if you are not familiar with them, but you probably cannot use the dock power button to turn on/off the laptop unless it is a HP dock.

Many docks can also charge the laptop via the same USB-C cable, a handy feature.

The VGA to HDMI cable you proposed is of no use since your laptop does not have VGA port, and you cannot daisy chain from monitor to monitor with such cable. Daisy chaining works with only DisplayPort and requires the monitor to have an output port. (and a reasonably recent laptop, such as the one you have)

Please mention the monitor models and the UGREEN model type as well if you can't get it to work.
