I have purchased a HP Universal USB-C Multiport to and also a passthrough cable to power my new HP laptop. It does not power up nor charge my battery. I have tried the same multi port and cable on an older HP laptop and it works well. Any suggestions as to why my new laptop is no charging ?

Hi,
I believe the USB-C port on the notebook does not support charging.
(1) USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; SuperSpeed 5 Gbps signaling rate (data transfer only; charging or external monitors not supported)

Hope it helps,

Thank you for this advice. As I am using my laptop to replace a desk top and have it set up to monitor etc.. is it safe to leave the laptop plugged into power cable and if so will it have a detrimental effect on the battery?
