Help! My hp elitebook folio 9470m is not working. Rewind back 10 months ago  my laptop fell it wasnt that much of a deal and 7 months ago i started hearing weird noise in the fan and 4 months ago i started getting a warning about my laptop shuting down in 15 seconds press enter to countinue using and it was saying "Fan not working properly" and then like 3 days ago my laptop battery finished and i tried charging it and turning it on and it wasnt working i tried to hard reset and it didnt work so i knew it wasnt from the battery and when i press power button it sometimes blinks 8 times (orange lights) and sometimes 10 times i dont know how old it is. I am panicking I dont know what to do please update me (I'm 12 years old so I dont wanna mess with any complex stuff)

Hello.

The fan is a critical part in your laptop because it cools down the processor. Without it the processor overheats in seconds and causes the laptop to slow down, and eventually to shut down.

I can only recommend taking your laptop to your local HP service partner or any laptop repair shop, and have them order a new fan and possibly a new battery as well, and also clean the dust that accumulates inside.

The battery and fan are both consumable/wear-out parts, and will not last forever. Both parts can be replaced but the fan replacement is complex, so I recommend not doing this yourself.

The battery replacement is super easy: it comes out with just sliding the latch on the bottom of the laptop. The laptop can operate without a battery, but would of course then require the power cable to be continuously attached.

If you'd like to search for a new battery and price +  availability, the battery product number is H4Q47AA (or use the spare part number 687945-001)

The cooling fan's spare part number is 702859-001.

For reference, HP has a Maintenance and Service Guide for HP 9470m, which includes those spart part numbers and also illustrated replacement procedures:
