Hi @Omar995,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Victus 15 is experiencing issues with USB ports being active (or charging devices) while the laptop is turned off, even though you've disabled USB charging, there could be several factors at play. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and address this issue:
1. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
Access BIOS/UEFI:
- Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key to enter BIOS/UEFI (usually F2, F10, Delete, or Esc).
- Navigate to the Advanced or Power settings.
USB Charging Settings:
- Look for settings related to USB charging or power management, such as USB Charging in Power Off Mode or USB PowerShare.
- Ensure that these settings are disabled if you want to stop USB charging while the laptop is off.
Save and Exit:
- Save any changes you make and exit BIOS/UEFI.
2. Check Windows Power Settings
Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click each USB Root Hub and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab and ensure that Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked.
Power Options:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand the USB settings and ensure that USB selective suspend setting is enabled.
3. Update Drivers and BIOS
Update Drivers:
- Ensure all drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP website or use HP Support Assistant to download and install the latest drivers for USB controllers and chipset.
Update BIOS:
- Check for BIOS updates on the HP support website. Follow their instructions to update the BIOS if a newer version is available.
4. Check for HP Software or Utilities
HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for any power or USB-related settings or updates that might affect USB charging.
HP Power Management Software:
- Some HP laptops have proprietary power management software that might have additional settings for USB charging. Check if such software is installed and configure it accordingly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
