I have been using two USB-C G4 docks, one at the office and one for work-from-home. I have the option of updating to a 845 G7 notebook but I would only get one dock, which would make moving it around much less convenient. I see from the compatibility pdf that the 800 series G7 is not on the list for the G4 dock. The G4 dock can output 60W while the approved G5 dock can output 100W. Per the specs of the 845 G7, it comes with a 45W power adapter so theoretically the G4 dock's 60W output should be sufficient right?
If I plug the 845 G7 into a G4 dock, what would happen?

Yes in theory.

The worse thing would be it would't charge your machine.
Regards.
