My laptop was working perfectly fine until yesterday. But this morning, when I tried to turn it on, the screen remained completely black. The power button LED lights up and stays on like normal, but there is no display at all — just a black screen.

I’ve tried holding Win + V + Power button to perform a CMOS reset, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly, or if it’s just not working. I don't see any noticeable response from the laptop when I try it.

Power button LED: Lit and stays constantly on.

Caps Lock LED: No light at all (not blinking or turning on).

Fan sound: Completely silent — I can't hear any fan or internal hardware activity.

Display: Entirely black, no flicker, no backlight, nothing.

Can someone please help!!!

@Alchemist134, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Victus 15 Black Screen Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The situation where your HP Victus 15 laptop's power LED lights up but the screen remains black can be caused by several factors. Here is a set of troubleshooting steps to help diagnose and resolve the issue:

Quick Check

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all external devices such as USB, mouse, etc.
  • Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to eliminate any remaining power.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter without inserting the battery and try turning on the laptop.

External Monitor:

  • Connect an external monitor to your laptop using an HDMI or VGA cable.
  • If the external monitor displays any output, this might indicate an issue with the laptop’s display panel or internal connections.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all cables and connections are secure, especially the ones to the display panel.

RAM and Storage Check:

  • If comfortable doing so, reseat the RAM and check the connections to the hard drive or SSD. Incorrect seating can sometimes cause boot issues.

Safe Mode Boot:

  • Attempt to start the laptop in Safe Mode by pressing F8 repeatedly after turning it on (if applicable for your model). Safe Mode can help identify software-related problems.

CMOS Reset:

  • Your attempt with Win + V followed by the Power button does attempt to reset CMOS.
  • Another way to reset CMOS is removing the battery (if replaceable), disconnecting power, then holding the power button for 15 seconds. Wait a few minutes before reconnecting power.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
