HP Elitebook 640 G9
Microsoft Windows 11

HI, we are using multiple HP Elitebook notebooks in our company from G9 to G11 models.
Our devices are running either on Windows 10 22H2 latest release or Windows 11 23H2 latest release.
We have Windows Hello enabled.
Fingerprint recognition is working fine on G10 and G11 models, but not working properly on G9.
It can be setup without any errors but when trying to sign in using fingerprint it cannot recognize my fingerprint.
I have tried to set it up several times, delete PIN and fingerprint and start from scratch. After reset everything, it will work for few sign-ins but after that some policy is probably applied and it will not work anymore.
I have tried different accounts, different G9 devices, different users. It is happening across all company on fingerprint recognition and on G9 models only. G9 is also our only model with infrared camera as well, and infrared is working without any issues on G9 devices.
I am aware, that it is probably some Enhanced Security Sign-in setting or some related security policy, but I am not able to find what is so different on G9 models and what needs to be done to make it work when it can work just fine on G10/G11.
Bios, system and drivers are updated to the latest version available.

Any help appreciated.

Hello.

Well, rule out first hardware problems by trying with a virginal Windows installation without any extra policies.

If the laptop passes that, then it must be the group policies and you need to work together with the AD admins to isolate the offending policy setting.

Check the Windows Event Log whenever the fingerprint authentication stops working.

Also, are you certain the firmware is the latest? The release notes for the latest BIOS from December contain this little tidbit: "Adds Enhanced Sign-in Security support for the fingerprint reader"
