ZBook 15 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am in the market for a workstation computer, and am trying to save some money upfront while making it as future-proof as possible. I have read some old posts about this being possible in older generation ZBooks, but if I were to buy one with, for example, a Quadro T1000, would it be possible to upgrade to a Quadro RTX GPU in the future?

Manual:

No, you have to buy new system board which contains

  (a) Motherboard,

  (b) CPU with integrated video,

  (c) Dedicated Video card ,

  (d) Operating system (if Windows 10, you can't reuse old license).

All above 4 components are on one piece of hardware called System board. If you wish to go ahead, please use a list on page 59 of the above manual.

Regards.
