Hi Alex,

I did the same thing and bought the same unit which is HP Zbook G5 4RB11UT#ABA

I bought 4 pieces of 16MB but found out that it's so difficult to update the 2 of them as it's buried under system board.

I am wondering if you ended up changes all the 4 memory and have any tips.

Thanks,
Rudy

Hi @spybreak

Sorry, it took a few days to get back to you. Yes, I see two of the slots are quite difficult to get to (especially on a new PC :))

I believe the reason is that the bottom ones are customer accessible and the hidden one is not. Maybe an economic kind of thing.

Anyway, I can only provide some info

On page 72 of the service manual, you can see the steps to replace the RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06038182

Maybe these videos can also help. You can click on each step in the list on left

Would I recommend you do it yourself? Probably better to take to a local trusted technician. Even I, myself, as a technician get a bit anxious when opening such an expensive and new device 🙂

Let me know if I can be of further help and enjoy the beautiful machine.

All the best,

David

Hi!

About this "max supported RAM question", doesn't this manual:

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c05940985.pdf

states that up to 128 GB ram is supported?  How is so?

Thank you!
