I've Just got my Zbook G1a and I find the included charger is quite large when I'm travelling. I have a few different USB chargers, however non of them work. the highest output is a 100W USB C charger but when I use this the port flashes white, stops, and then doesn't charge the laptop. Putting in the 140W included charger work's without issue. Does the laptop need a minimum wattage to charge the laptop? I'm now looking at a Satechi GaN travel charger, 145W, but I don't want to spend the money in case there's some other issue that prevents 3rd party charging etc.
I'm also using an Anker Prime 240W USB C charging cable, not sure if this is a factor, I've also ordered a cable matters USB4 cable to see if that works
Any help appreciated.

Normally you need a charger with wattage rating is the same (or above) its original charger. Lower wattage, it should charge your machine when off.

I tried the lower wattage charger when it was off and it didn’t seem to charge at all. I may give this another go.
understood about a charger that should be the same as the original, but I have used lesser chargers on other laptops and it’s ‘trickle’ charged.

Probably with new USB-C standard, vendors would produce notebooks accept lower wattage for charging, probably at the end of this year. Some vendors may introduce newer technology before others.

Hello Banhien
I am facing a similar problem with HP zbook ultra g1a.
I have purchased this power bank 4smarts Lucid Maxx (60000 mAh, 140 W, 222 Wh).
It works fine .But it is unable to charge the laptop above 96-97%....
I am receiving messages like (recommends to use an HP power source).
So that means that i am not capable to charge to 100% the laptop with this power bank ?
I tried to drop brightness to 20% and the results are the same.
This power bank provides 20v 5a and 140w also.
With HPs original charger i can achieve 100% battery level but with the power bank not over 96-97%....
So what else could i do to fix this ? (because to me it seems like a software or charging protocol issue).
Thanks in advance

I have a similar issue. My Spigen 140w charger as well as my Cuktech 15 140w power bank can charge the device, but as soon as I change to performance mode and start a benchmark the power source keeps disconnecting frequently, which makes the performance drop significantly. I tested 4 different 240w cables so that shouldn't be the issue. Initially charging with 27.4w works fine but as soon after the performance mode kicks in to full power the amps drop to 0.
I am wondering if Performance mode works with your Anker 140w gan charger. Could you please let me know? HP should provide a list with supported 3rd party compact chargers that work with the zBook Ultra g1a!

Hello Team
Today i tried another cable to charge the laptop but still...No results.
I received an error message from the laptop please disconnect the power outlet because a power surge is detected.
Any explanation to this ? The cable i use is the following
Onit USB C — USB C (2 m, USB 4.0)
Stromstärke
5 A
Leistung
240 W
Max. Datenübertragungsrate
40000 Mbit/s

Update on the original 'issue'.
I now have a satechi 145W travel charger and a anker prime 27,650 power bank. Both charge the laptop (with the 240w rated anker cable) without issue.
I have also found that the thunderbolt 4 dock I have (Kensington SD5800T) does charge the laptop, but with a warning saying its a slow charger. this is a 100w output. This may work due to the fact its a thunderbolt 4 cable, where as other 100W chargers I have used will not, maybe because they are USB.
