Zbook Ultra G1a Ubuntu not charging (redux)

Hi all,

I have this 128G G1a computer running Ubuntu 24.04b LTS (kernel 6.11.0-1025-oem) with the latest BIOS (1.03; "dmidecode -s bios-version" says "X89 Ver. 01.03.00") from the HP download store (since it came with Windows 11).

It does not charge reliably. I have tried a large number of chargers and cables, including 100W and 140W and 240W cables, and various Anker chargers (100W, 60W, 140W, etc.). The only reliable charger is an Anker Desktop 250W charger (link at end). I don't have the HP charger with me, it's so huge I immediately put it aside.

On some chargers, it doesn't charge at all. But on most, it charges for a few moments and then disconnects. Ubuntu gives me repeated sound alerts (charging started, charging ended) which is also irritating.

I see a few interesting messages in /var/log:

On a Delta flight today, it wouldn't charge AT ALL but fortunately the battery lasted as long as I needed it to on "Power Save" mode, using both an Anker 140W charger and Anker PowerPort III (65W).

I have no idea what to check in the logs or in the system or in the BIOS to help this situation out, but I am a very technical user and could use some hints (Linux user since the early '90s but this is my first time using it on the desktop). It will stop charging and immediately charge - playing the two sounds in a row - but nothing shows up in the logs

I say "redux" because another post talked about this and never seemed to have been resolved, and it wouldn't let me reply.

I should note that I think the laptop shipped with BIOS 1.02. I have no idea how I could revert the BIOS with Linux since I don't have Windows anymore.

BIOS 1.02 shows:

TI Power Delivery (PD) Dual Port Firmware, version 6.4.0 TI Power Delivery (PD) Single Port Firmware, version 5.4.0

BIOS 1.03 shows:
