Hi, the webcam on a Zbook just stopped working. I have tried troubleshooting and checked the system and it flags it as working properly yet the camera shows no image and there's just a black screen. There is no button on the keyboard to turn it on or off either. Any ideas, pointers, or help would be really appreciated.

It's a Zbook Firefly 15 G8. Purchased approx 1 month ago. The camera doesn't work with any application, even the camera app preloaded on the laptop. I have just rebooted the machine to take it back to original factory settings too, although I did choose the option to keep my personal files, but don't see how that could've made any difference to the camera... I should add that it did work originally and then just stopped a few days ago.
I've just re-run HP hardware diagnostics and it's flagged at working, but when I finish the test to open the camera it's just a black screen?!

There is nothing to slide across the camera, it is completely exposed with no covers.
I did originally have it set to recognise my face when I opened the laptop and now it's not working, this (obviously) doesn't work either. However there is a red light that flashes where the camera is where you can see that it is trying to do something on sign in, but the red light flashing never stops and you have to prompt the laptop to sign in another way.

Seems like a hardware issue and you should be under warranty. This Forum is not part of the warranty support part of HP so you are going to have to initiate a warranty case. I will also escalate to an HP employee who can perhaps help.
