Hi @GRteo7,

It seems like your HP 255 G6 laptop is encountering a problem where the battery remains at 0% and doesn't charge, and the laptop turns off when unplugged. This issue can occur after performing updates, possibly due to driver-related changes affecting the battery management.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Power Adapter and Connections:

    • Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to the laptop and the wall outlet.
    • Verify that there are no visible damages to the power adapter or the charging port.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Shut down your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
    • Remove the battery (if it is removable), and press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery (if applicable), reconnect the charger, and power on the laptop.
  3. Update Battery Driver:

    • Go to the Device Manager on your laptop.
    • Expand the "Batteries" category.
    • Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall device."
    • Click "Action" on the top menu and select "Scan for hardware changes" to reinstall the driver.
  4. Run HP Support Assistant:

    • Open HP Support Assistant and run the battery check tool to identify potential issues.
    • HP Support Assistant can also manage updates and driver installations specific to HP devices.
  5. Battery Health Check:

    • If the battery is removable, try using a different battery if available.
    • If the issue persists, it might be beneficial to check the battery's health via BIOS diagnostics.
  6. BIOS Update:

    • Check the HP website for any available BIOS updates for your HP 255 G6 model and perform the update if necessary.
