Hi @John1308,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Notebook - 14 is not recognizing the new battery correctly in the BIOS after replacement, and you're having to reboot each time. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Reset the BIOS:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to perform a power reset.
  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Once in the BIOS, select the "Restore Defaults" or "Load Setup Defaults" option.
  • Save changes and exit the BIOS.

Update the BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for the latest BIOS update for your specific HP Notebook - 14 model.
  • Follow the instructions provided to download and install the BIOS update.

Check Battery Connection:

  • Ensure that the battery is properly seated and connected to the motherboard.
  • Remove the battery, inspect the connectors for any dirt or damage, and reinsert it securely.

Perform a Battery Calibration:

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter, and let the battery charge fully.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and allow the battery to drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and charge the battery fully without turning on the laptop.

Check for Windows Battery Driver Updates:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click on Start and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the "Batteries" section.
  • Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Update driver."
  • Follow the prompts to search for and install any available updates.

Test with Another Battery:

  • If possible, test the laptop with another battery to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the new battery is faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Alden,

I finally found the F10 key thru You Tube, however upon closer inspection of the actual keys, I DID find the F10 key marked, very small lettering.  Thank You for your assistance, I believe my problem is solved.
