Dear community,
I'm looking to buy the HP Elitebook 850 G5 and would like to use 2 or 3 external monitors.
Please can you advise if the laptop can offer this "out of the box' or would i need to buy an additional hardware. If so, what?
Thanks for your assitance!

HP 850 G5 and 840 G5 machines use very similar hardware except screen sizes. Please check the following table. Sounds like you need a docking station

Hello
consider that the Intel HD Graphics card integrate in the processor can drive up to 3 monitor, include the internal display. if you clode the lid you should be able to drive 3 monitor if you have enought conenction.
850 has an HDMI port and a thunderbolt port. so you may have 3 displays in thsi way:
1 internal monitor
1 connected to HDMI
1 connected to the thunderbolt port (USB-C)
in order to conenct a monitor to thunderbolt port (USB-C) you have such ways:
a monitor with USB-C video input port
an adapater from USB-C-to-another video port such as
- VGA
- HDMI
- DisplayPort
it depend on which monitors you have.

I have an HP Elite G5, 2 HP 27er monitors and the hp usb-c dock. My problem is that when both monitors are connected, the laptop screen turns off. As soon as I disconnect one of the monitors the the screen comes back. According to the specs I should be able to run with 3 screens. Is there a way to keep the laptop screen on? Right now one monitor is connected via HDMI to the dock, the other is connected on the display port also on the docking station. I tried connecting one of the monitors directly to the laptop via hdmi and the second monitor on the dock via hdmi, same results, to beautiful displays working but no laptop screen. I like to have one screen for email, one for work in progress and the other for documentation/requirements. The dock has 2 display ports and one hdmi port.
