Hello, I am trying to connect a second monitor to my HP Elite x360 1040 14 inch G11 2-in-1 Notebook PC. The first external monitor has been connected directly to the laptop via an HDMI cable, and I'm trying to connect the second external monitor to the first external monitor via a DisplayPort Cable. Can you please let me know what I may be doing wrong as the second external monitor is not connecting.

You can only daisy chain display ports.  The PC or Laptop must have one of the new display port interfaces.  It cannot be done with HDMI.

You can cast to the a second monitor using Wi-Fi or use a USB2/3 (not USB4 or thunderbolt) adapter.

The additional monitor must be have a Wi-Fi adapter

You can project your laptop to any Wi-Fi enabled system such as TV or Monitor with Wi-Fi adapter
Some TV are smart but others need a dongle such as ROKU or Microsoft.

This link here gives instructions on adding a laptop to desktop as a monitor or vice-versa using Wi-Fi
Android can also do this as shown here
Once you are projecting on the screen you can select 'mirror' or 'extend'

This will either duplicate the screen or give you an additional display. Note that Wi-Fi will lag. A USB2/3 adapter will also lag but not as bad as Wi-Fi. You would not want to project a game to a larger monitor using Wi-Fi but it would work nicely for web browsing, Office apps or anything other than a first-person-shooter game.

If you get a USB adapter be sure to read the reviews. Do not get an adapter that mentions thunderbolt (USB-C) as that means your laptop needs to have a thunderbolt port. The USB2/3 adapter will come with a (url to download) driver to make it work. It is more than just a cable.

Let me know what you find out.
