HP USB-C Dock G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi laptop worked fine till yesterday, a couple updates were done and stopped working, the laptop is not charging anymore nor the additional screens are been shared from the docking.  issue with laptop 1040g8 with usbc docking g5.

Each time i unplug and plug back the docking, the laptop detects and connects to the dock it starts to charge and screens try to connect but then it seems its kicked and docking shutsdown. 

Docking is working with a different model.

 Would like to know if there are any similar cases and if there is any known resolution.

That means your machine is the culprit. Please uninstall all updates yesterday on your machine to restore the situation and run updates one by one to see which one is the REAL problem, then fix from there.
