2014 hp envy touch m7-j020dx  has not been updated since purchased... I want to begin using it and I would like the entire system updated to 2023 standards.. latest operating system, drivers, bios, etc.  I don't know what else to list although you get the idea.  Thanks

Hello,

Your PC model usually comes with WIndows 8, but 8 is end of life nowadays (since January) >> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-81

Latest Microsoft operating system is Windows 11 but it is not officially supported by your device. Your PC models is from 2014 and end of warranty period. It might not support correctly latest OS versions/changes. But you can try.

You may need to install Windows 10 which is still supported by its vendor Microsoft

Instructions >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBkzqMYGcZ0

When ready with the USB drive:

Please, shutdown the computer using the power button.

Insert the Windows USB thumbdrive prepared previously

Power on the PC.

As soon as you press the power-on button, start hitting the Esc button repeatedly (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu

Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the USB thumb drive as a boot option.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 10. Perform clean installation/custom installation (not repair).

Delete all existing partitions and install Windows on Disc 0 Unallocated space

- Make sure Windows is Activated by going to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Activation

Once Windows is installed, download and install Windows 10 drivers from here >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-touchsmart-m7-j000-notebook-pc-series/53549...
