Hallo

i have an elite x2 1013 g3, which is use for long periods of time. I own a 100 watt Powrbank, wich is use to charge it during use. the issue is, that when i pull of the Powerbank, while it is charging, it wont charge again. The charging LED is on and windows claims it is charging. When i plug it back in it pulls no power and just emptys the battery. i tried messig with the bios settings (did an update too) and even reinstaled windows and drivers nothing helped (original charger too) .is ther a setting i missed, or is this a bug.

After a fiew forced shutdowns it works again.

As a sidenote it doesn't have an original batteri anymore, not shure if its the problem, it charges fine on the Powerbank and charger once it works, about 60 wats under load and about 45 when charging.

sencearly, justsomedude

Sometimes an HP PC will not charge an aftermarket Battery.

It is best to use a genuine Battery with a genuine charger, I've seen too many battery failures that seemed to be related to aftermarket chargers.

HP Chargers do not overcharge the battery wheras an aftermarket charger might.

I do not think it is the issue withe the battery, because it is charging corectly, on the charger and from the powerbank, just when i pull the powerbank out. the device shown me a red charging light and windows tells me it is charging, with no kable atached. the first time it is charging just fine.

charging it the first time IMG_20251019_090025_845.jpgIMG_20251019_090033_726.jpg

but when i pull it out it thinks it is charging

when i pug the powerbank back in it wont pull power, this also aplies to the original charger.

here is the non hp batterie warning i get at startup

it only works again if i fore shutoff the device. it is also pulling the correct amount of power, about 25-30 when only charging and about 45-60 when in heavy use. it has also not exided the max battery voltage, of 8,2 - 8,25 volt during active charging.

Based on your troubleshooting the Motherboard is defective.

If the BIOS has not been updated I'd do that before buying a Motherboard.

I'm an HP Service Qualified Tech and I work at a location where we repair HP Computers every day, during slow periods we do around 50 a week.

i did update the bios.

i wold like to know why you think it is a defektiv motherboard?

HP Recommended

When we see that kind of failure we replace the Motherboard and it resolves the issue.

The charging circuitry is on the Motherboard and the Battery is connected to the motherboard, so problems related to charging end up being either the Motherboard or the Battery.

I only recall seeing this issue once, and it was a motherboard failure.

What else do you think it could be?

My guess is with software, because hardware does not magicly solve itself with a forced shutdown, atleast not that i know of.

It could also be the protokoll for the voltage negotioation, the one forn the charger can be different, then the powerbank and this confuses the tablet. Also the fact that it works with everiting else, the original charger, my type c phone charger, a type c aplle charger, and even a 12 volt chrger and powerbank worked as it should, it only has a issue with this specific powerbank.

this is what confuses me, it works fine with everithing else but this powerbank, but i tried the powerbank on different laptop (elitebook 830 g6) and it workes just fine. So for me atleast points to ether the bios having an issue, or windows powermanagment or could also be and issue betwean both, could also be a bugged driver not sure.

my best guess after thinking that the tablet cant handle pd 3.0 form the powerbanks side, i din#t finde conformation, but i thin the tablet only can pd 2.0.

Just confirmed it, the powerbank has a pd 2.0 port, and it works just fine. So it just can't work with pd 3.0.

The only way it fals back is, when i plug it back in before it goes into battery saving mode.
