hp spectre x360 15-df0013dx
Linux

Hi I have a hp spectre x360 15-df0013dx.  I desperately want to run 2 external 4k monitors.  The system has the onboard intel video card and the extra nvidia card.  I am running ubuntu which makes it a bit more complicated.  I have tried all kinds of external splitters including several that were recommended here.  I believe the issue is that the windows drivers have some kind of voodoo that bridges the two video cards.  In any case, absolutely could not make it work my self.

So I'm think I could get an external graphics card and use that.  My question is, is there a specific card brand/type that might be more likely to be compatible with this particular laptop?  My main and only goal is 2 external 4k monitors.  I'm not gaming, just need more window realestate.

Thank you,

Its specs does not say anything about available ports and I can't find it manual, only manual for similar machines on the following link

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-spectre-15-df0000-x360-convertible-pc/23238160/manuals

which says

● Combination audio-out (headphone)/audio-in (microphone) combo jack
● High-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) V2.0a
● HP Smart AC adapter
● USB Type-A port 3.1 Gen 2
● USB Type-C port 3.1 Gen 2 with Thunderbolt™ Gen 3 technology (1 or 2, varying by computer model)
● USB Type-C port 3.1 Gen 2 (varies by computer model)

The killer is varying by computer model).

Therefore the 64 million dollars question is, does your machine have Thunderbolt 3 port ? If yes, you can use

as an external GPU.

Interesting, they don't mention the ports.  Well it does have usb c and usb c with thunderbolt.  I'm not sure what gen of thunderbolt or how to find out but I assume it's pretty recent.
So you say it will work with the Omen, will it work with any external graphics card?  Are there restrictions or brands/types that are more or less compatible?  Also remember, I'm running ubuntu not windows.
Thanks,

Raif

It seems the hp omen accelerator is either no longer available or not available yet. It must have been available because there are reviews on Amazon.

Do you know if it will be available again or do you know of another e gpu that would be compatible with a 15" Spectre with thunderport v3 ?
