Microsoft Windows 11

I just bought a new laptop for myself and after I updated the bios, my laptop shut down for a long time, about 3-4 minutes. I have tried many ways on the internet such as
- Disabling fast startups
-Changing \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management and Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
but still can't fix this problem. This error occurs very randomly, sometimes it shuts down quickly, sometimes it shuts down for a long time. I switched to ubuntu and the error is still the same (my laptop has 2 operating systems). Hope everyone can help me fix this situation, thank you very much

If you're experiencing delayed shutdowns on your HP EliteBook 845 G10, especially after a BIOS update, it could be related to various factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check for Additional Updates:

  • Ensure that your operating system (Windows 11) and all drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates can address compatibility issues and improve system performance.

2. BIOS Configuration:

  • Revisit the BIOS settings and ensure that they are configured correctly. Check for any power management settings or configurations related to shutdown that might be affecting the system.

3. Roll Back BIOS Update:

  • If the issue started after a BIOS update, consider rolling back to the previous BIOS version. Manufacturers sometimes provide tools or instructions for reverting to an older version. Be cautious with this step, as incorrectly reverting the BIOS can cause issues.

4. Check for Background Processes:

  • Ensure that there are no background processes or applications causing delays during shutdown. You can use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for resource-intensive applications.

5. Power Settings:

  • In Windows, go to "Settings" > "System" > "Power & sleep" and check the power settings. Adjust the power plan settings to see if it has an impact on shutdown times.

6. Windows Event Viewer:

  • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings related to shutdown. This might provide insights into what's causing the delay.

7. Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Run hardware diagnostics to check for any potential issues with components like the hard drive or RAM. Most manufacturers provide built-in diagnostic tools that you can access during the boot process.

8. Ubuntu Behavior:

  • Since you mentioned the issue persists in Ubuntu, it may indicate a hardware-related problem. Consider running hardware diagnostics from the Ubuntu environment as well.

9. HP Support:

  • Contact HP support for assistance. They may have specific knowledge about your laptop model and any common issues related to BIOS updates or shutdown delays.

10. Restore Point:

  • If the issue started after a specific event (like a BIOS update), consider using System Restore in Windows to revert your system to a previous state when it was working correctly.

11. Clean Installation:

  • As a last resort, if other steps don't resolve the issue, you might consider a clean installation of Windows or Ubuntu to rule out any software-related problems.

Remember to back up your important data before attempting significant changes to your system. If the issue persists, especially after trying these steps, it's advisable to reach out to HP support for further assistance, as they can provide guidance specific to your laptop model.
