had Microsoft 365 pre-installed and fully working on my HP ProBook (Edied). After formatting my laptop, I lost access to it. Now, Microsoft 365 is asking me to activate or purchase it again. I checked HP’s software and driver page, but there’s no Office installer or digital entitlement showing. Since my laptop is still under warranty, I need your help to confirm whether it came with a Microsoft 365 license and how to recover or reinstall it if so.

Welcome to HP Support Community!
Your HP ProBook 450 G9 (model 674N1AV) likely came with a pre-installed Microsoft 365 license, especially if it was part of a promotional offer or bundled with the device. However, after formatting your laptop, the pre-installed Office suite may have been removed, and the activation tied to your Microsoft account might no longer be recognized.
Steps to Recover or Reinstall Microsoft 365
1. Check Your Microsoft Account for Linked Subscriptions
Sign in to your Microsoft account. Look for any active Microsoft 365 subscriptions associated with your account. If you find one, you can reinstall Office by selecting the "Install" option. This will download the installer, which you can run to reinstall Office on your laptop.
2. Use HP Recovery Manager to Reinstall Pre-installed Software
If your laptop originally came with Office pre-installed, you might be able to recover it using HP Recovery Manager:
-
Open the Start Menu and search for HP Recovery Manager.
-
Launch the application and look for options to Reinstall Software or Restore Pre-installed Software.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Microsoft 365 if it's available in the list.
3. Reinstall Office from Microsoft’s Official Website
If the above options aren't available or don't work, you can reinstall Office directly from Microsoft's website:
-
Go to the Microsoft office page
-
Sign in with the Microsoft account that was previously associated with Office.
-
Click on Install Office to download and install the Office apps.
