I recently purchased an HP ProBook x360 435 G8 and am currently looking to acquire a compatible active stylus. As official HP pen accessories are currently unavailable from local retailers in my region, I am seeking clarification regarding alternative options.
Could you please confirm the following details?
Digitizer Protocol: Which active digitizer protocol does the HP ProBook x360 435 G8 screen utilize (e.g., Wacom AES 1.0/2.0 or Microsoft Pen Protocol / MPP)?
Compatible Stylus Models: besides the official HP Pro Pen G1 , what alternative third-party or multi-protocol pens (such as Wacom Bamboo Ink or AES-compatible styluses) are verified to work with this device?

Hi @ferrusmanus20,
Thank you for getting back to us.
I understand you're looking for the specific pen protocol used by your HP ProBook .
It uses the Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) for active pen input.
kindly follow these guidelines while looking for compatible pen:
- Look for a pen that explicitly states support for Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP).
- Check that the pen supports your preferred pressure sensitivity and shortcut button features.
- Verify compatibility with Windows ink features if those are important for your use case.
I hope this helps .

Hi @ferrusmanus20
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand you're looking for a compatible active pen for your HP ProBook x360 435 G8, and I'd be glad to help you with this.
Active pens communicate with the notebook's touchscreen using a specific pen protocol. Not all active styluses use the same technology, which is why a pen that works perfectly on one touchscreen notebook may not function on another.
The HP ProBook x360 series can have different touchscreen configurations depending on the exact model and region.
For the HP ProBook x360 435 G8, the most commonly recommended and referenced pen is the HP Pro Pen / HP Pro Pen G1 .

I hope this helps.
