Are you also getting a message that says MPM. is not locked?

If it is unlocked you must be sure to keep the battery in and charged so the counter does not decrement and lock the mode which makes it harder to put the information in. New motherboards are unlocked so it only takes a few minutes to put in the information once the mode is locked it probably takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on how fast you get through the HP tech support.

If the MPM is locked HP tech support has to send a special file to an authorized Tech to unlock it.

Either way it requires proprietary software to put the information back into the PC which only HP or an authorized shop will have available.
