@wickliff
Thank you for contacting the HP Support Community.

If you're experiencing screen flickering on your HP EliteBook 830 G6 running Windows 11, here are some potential solutions to address the problem:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:

  2. Check Display Settings:

    • Open the "Display settings" in Windows by right-clicking on the desktop, and ensure that the refresh rate matches the specifications of your laptop's display. Incorrect refresh rates can lead to flickering.
  3. Perform a Clean Boot:

    • Conduct a clean boot to rule out any third-party software conflicts.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and navigate to the "Startup" tab. Disable unnecessary startup applications, then restart the computer.
  4. Check for Windows Updates:

    • Ensure your operating system is fully up to date, as updates can resolve compatibility issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click "Check for updates."
  5. Disable Windows Desktop Window Manager:

    • Sometimes disabling and re-enabling Windows Desktop Window Manager (DWM) can resolve flickering.
    • Open Services (Windows + R and type services.msc), find "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" and restart this service.
  6. BIOS Update:

    • Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version available on the HP support site. This can sometimes fix hardware-related issues, including screen flickering.
  7. External Monitor Test:

    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to determine if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is with the screen itself or software-related.

Do keep us posted on whether these steps resolve the issue. We’ll be happy to assist you with the next steps.
